Nanotech firm could draw Triad big-time attention
Abstract:
Reyad Sawafta's decision to leave the drug discovery company TransTech Pharma and start his own science enterprise focusing on ultrasmall, futuristic products may help establish the Triad as a hub for the emerging industry known as nano-technology. In less than three months, Sawafta has raised more than $3 million from private investors across the Triad and beyond for his company, QuarTek International Inc. He's currently hiring a staff of 10 scientists with the goal of coming out with his first nano products by summer 2005.
