NEC claims carbon nanotube monopoly, offers licenses
Abstract:
NEC Corp. claimed Wednesday that it owns essential patents on carbon nanotubes and that, as a result, all companies that wish to make or sell carbon nanotube materials must approach the company to obtain licenses. At the same time NEC said it had granted Sumitomo Corp. a non-exclusive license to operate under the basic Japanese patents owned by NEC that cover carbon nanotubes.
