UF builds nanotech bridges
Abstract:
University of Florida medical, engineering and chemical researchers see enormous potential in the medical applications of nanotechnology, particularly in the use of drug-uptake particles. These drug-binding molecules, which are tiny enough to travel through the body's smallest capillaries, may provide a way to spare the heart and other organs from the toxic effects of a drug overdose. Potential applications of this form of nanoscience include treating people exposed to excessive amounts of pesticides, industrial pollutants or chemical weapons.
