The biggest molecular magnet

Abstract:
Single molecules capable of acting as individual magnetic domains show quantum effects that might be useful for quantum computing. But how big can they go? Nanoscale magnetic particles synthesized with atomic precision from the 'bottom up' show quantum-mechanical magnetic effects, researchers in France and the USA report. Such quantum magnetism might be exploited for quantum computing.
