7 area firms named `technology pioneers'
Abstract:
The World Economic Forum today named seven Bay Area companies as ``technology pioneers'' for 2004, a designation reserved for businesses that the group considers to be among the world's most innovative. Two area companies making the World Economic Forum list specialize in nanotechnology, the science of making devices so small they are measured on the scale of atoms. Nanomix in Emeryville and Nanosys in Palo Alto have developed materials for miniature sensors and other applications of this cutting-edge technology.
