Nano-Lasers To Help Fight Disease
Abstract:
The world's smallest lasers could help hunt down drugs to halt neurological diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and illnesses caused by radiation and chemical nerve agents. Researchers at Sandia National Laboratory in New Mexico have combined the technology that makes lasers in compact disc players with the parts of living cells to detect the death throes of minuscule mitochondria within cells.
