Collagen boosts biocompatibility of semiconductor nanoparticles

Abstract:
Thin films made from semiconductor nanoparticles could have biomedical applications but may be toxic to cells in the body. With that in mind, a team from Oklahoma State University and the University of Texas, US, has tried coating films of CdTe nanoparticles with the biological material collagen.
