Titanium Disulfide Nanotubes and Hydrogen Storage
Abstract:
A cheap, effective, and safe hydrogen-storage device will be necessary if we are to switch to a hydrogen economy. At least one research group is looking at TiS2 nanotubes as a possible storage material. At least one research group is looking at TiS2 nanotubes as a possible storage material. TiS2 is interesting because it can form covalently bonded S–Ti–S sheets. Individual sheets then form weakly interacting (van der Waals) layers that can incorporate foreign molecules, such as hydrogen, by intercalation. It might be possible to store hydrogen physically in the TiS2 tube and in the walls of the tube.
