Chip maker Infineon eyes use of UAlbany center
Abstract:
"We're in active discussions with Infineon, and although nothing's final yet, I'm optimistic that the future is bright," said Alain Kaloyeros, UAlbany's dean of nanosciences and nanoengineering.
While a contract hasn't been inked, some close to UAlbany's Albany NanoTech initiative are already speaking of it as a done deal. Jim Ryan, director of advanced materials and process technology for IBM Corp.'s Microelectronics unit, mentioned Infineon's Albany-office-to-be in a recent conversation. IBM is a significant investor in the university's nanotechnology efforts.
