Home > Directory > Nanotechnology Books
Below you will find a selection of books whose main theme is Nanotechnology. Here you will find a comprehensive and frequently updated selection of nanotech books to purchase, from hard science to science fiction, as well as online versions which are free! If you would like the audio or e-book versions, once you click on one of these links and enter the Barnes and Noble site, in the left hand column you will see "Books by such-and-such author" -- click there and get the entire selection, including audio and e-book versions, when available.
Consider the first two a must read and the first ten an introduction. #3 is a book that many feel is the one to read in order to understand the history and potential of MNT. It is followed by two others that will give you additional history and background on the emerging science of Nanotechnology, a sixth and seventh that will bring you up-to-speed on Nanomedicine (actually more technical than the others in our top 10), followed by an eight that will get you acquainted with Transhumanism and Extropianism, a ninth book that will give those of you planning on investing in the Nanospace a little heads up, while the final and tenth book is another great intro to the field. Following them is a very comprehensive list of resource and technical books that range from the easy to the exceptionally complex and scientifically detailed. Click on the links to be taken to Barnes and Noble, where you will generally find both a description of the book, and a review or two. You can also order books at the same time. Occassionally, a book will be out of stock, and you will see the message "This title is not presently stocked by Barnes & Noble. Check availability from our network of book dealers." Check availability will be a link you can click to see if one of B&N's network has the book. Or check back here frequently, or visit your local used book store.
This list has been developed based upon the most popular books currently available. If you have another favorite, please

Discovering the Nanoscale Edited by: Davis Baird, Alfred Nordmann, and Joachim Schummer
Labeled by the editors as "a collection of studies that considers nanoscience and nanotechnologies from the critical perspective of Science and technology Studies (STS)," Discovering the Nanoscale is comprised of 25 papers on where we are, how we got here, and where we may be headed with nanoscale technologies, as seen through the eyes of distinguished philosophers and scientists.
Nanotechnology: Risk, Ethics and Law Edited by: Geoffrey Hunt and Michael Mehta
Nanotechnology – technology at the molecular level – is held out by many as the Holy Grail for creating a trillion dollar economy and solving problems from curing cancer to reprocessing waste into products and building super-fast computers. Yet, as with GMOs, many view nanotech as a high risk genie in a bottle that once uncorked has the potential to cause unpredictable, perhaps irreversible, environmental and public health disasters.
