Abstract:
I got the idea for this poem from the MIT Research paper titled: Deformation, structural changes and damage evolution in nanotwinned copper under repeated frictional contact sliding (see link below)
Deformation was studied, with a scanning electron microscope to monitor deformation-induced structural
changes as a function of the number of passes of repeated frictional sliding.
i saw a certain beauty in this, and wrote a poem about it.

repeated friction 1
effective twin density sliding cycles;
repetitive friction laden, piled up
diamond indenter materials evolve.
uniaxial ion beam senses,
deeply dislocated grain
refined, strengthened.
cross-sections focused.
cyclic loading deformation.
induced structural changes.
scratch surface softens.
stressed stacked fault energy ―
fracture
fatigue
crack
damage and deformation grows.
excessive dislocation facilitated.
conditions tested.
temperature rises.
grains disappear
height drops
tough resistance
capitulates.
no matter how hard you get
friction factors in,
by recourse.
