Abstract:
Nanoscience is a scientific study at nanoscale. Based on Market Research Dublin report, nano market will be about $3.7 trillion in 2015. As the potential of this scientific study is great even greater than the effect of biotechnology and information technology combined; every country or nations is looking for inclusion. Unfortunately the developing countries of Africa, Caribbean and Latin America may be left behind in the nano race in so called nano-divide if nothing serious is done by the global community especially the developed countries of North America, Western Europe and Japan: Between 2006 and 2008; out of 585 nanopatent released; only one came from the continent of Africa and 2 from Latin America.1 Most of the patents were issued from Europe, North America and Asia especially Japan.1

Nanoscience is a scientific study at nanoscale. Based on Market Research Dublin report, nano market will be about $3.7 trillion in 2015. As the potential of this scientific study is great even greater than the effect of biotechnology and information technology combined; every country or nations is looking for inclusion. Unfortunately the developing countries of Africa, Caribbean and Latin America may be left behind in the nano race in so called nano-divide if nothing serious is done by the global community especially the developed countries of North America, Western Europe and Japan: Between 2006 and 2008; out of 585 nanopatent released; only one came from the continent of Africa and 2 from Latin America.1 Most of the patents were issued from Europe, North America and Asia especially Japan.1 If this trend continues, the whole world will be drawn into serious instability which will result into a massive catastrophe greater than Tsunami, first and second world wars and effect of HIV/AIDS combined. This massive destruction can be avoided by the nanobasket viewpoint; the coming together of nations, institutions and disciplines to brainstorm and solve global problem. Through this process ideas, fundings and collaborations across boundaries are built for a stable world. It is should be realized that the stability of developed nations is tied to the stability of developing nations. Developing nations can only be stable when they have environment that is devoid of scientific and all forms of poverty. To prevent a global catastrophe as mentioned above Focus Nanotechnology Africa Inc(FONAI)-US-Africa-Asia-Pacific and Caribbean Nanotechnology (USEACANI) was founded on these main objectives:
· Improve institutional structures so they foster and nurture development
· Support long-term nanoscience and engineering research leading to fundamental discoveries of novel phenomena, processes and tools;
· Encourage inter-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional cooperation required in nanoscience and nanotechnology;
· Provide new types of education to train the experts in nanoscience and nanotechnology and entrepreneurs of the future;
· Create the physical infrastructure to enable first-class basic research, exploration of applications, development of new industries, and rapid commercialization of innovations in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
USEACANI now covers 178 countries being the biggest nano-initiative in the world.The proposed budget of USEACANI for 10 years is $10 billion. Such an investment by especially developed world on developing countries especially Africa and the Caribbean is very crucial for a stable and peaceful world. FONAI is seeking the support of the global community in this effort:
