Abstract:
The NanoArt K12 program has been launched by NanoArt21 in collaboration with The Nanotechnology Group. The purpose of this worldwide program is to support the education of the new generations of artists and scientists and to promote the art-science-technology intersections, Nanotechnology and NanoArt for a better youth development.

NanoArt K12 Program
The NanoArt K12 program has been launched by NanoArt21 ( http://nanoart21.org ) in collaboration with The Nanotechnology Group ( http://www.tntg.org ). The purpose of this worldwide program is to support the education of the new generations of artists and scientists and to promote the art-science-technology intersections, Nanotechnology and NanoArt for a better youth development. This program also aims to help the teachers and other educators to integrate Nanotechnology and NanoArt into K12 curriculum.
NanoArt is a new art discipline: the micro or nanosculptures (molecular and atomic sculptures) created by artists and scientists using chemical reactions and physical processes are visualized with powerful research tools like scanning electron or atomic force microscopes. The scientific images of these structures are captured and further processed using different artistic techniques to convert them into artworks showcased for large audiences. NanoArt21 founded by the artist and scientist Cris Orfescu (
http://www.crisorfescu.com ) is providing 3 images of nano or microstructures for children and teens to convert them into works of art through any artistic technique. The electron micrographs depict graphite micro and nanoparticles.
NanoArt21's mission is to promote worldwide the NanoArt as a reflection of the technological movement, and to raise the public awareness of Nanotechnology through art. "The responsible development and application of nanotechnology could lead to create jobs and economic growth, to enhance national security, and to improve the quality of life. Some of the benefits would be cleaner manufacturing processes, stronger and lighter building materials, smaller and faster computers, and more powerful ways to detect and treat disease. R&D focuses on practical applications, such as energy, homeland security, healthcare, food and agriculture, environment, new materials, electronics."

An important area of The NanoTechnology Group Inc. is Nano News (
http://www.nanonews.tv ). Its mission is to raise public awareness with discussions of societal implications and new developments in the commercialization of the technology through the online media. "As the research moves forward many issues will arise that the public needs to be aware of for the future. Our goal is to present accurate news gathering on the research and development areas of nano science and the resulting nanotechnology, while disseminating the issues that will arise from the rapid commercialization of products in the marketplace in order to develop public awareness of the benefits versus the problems as they arise."

All students bellow the age of 18 are encouraged to participate to the NanoArt K12 program. All artworks will be posted on the NanoArt21 site and the best works will be selected to be shown in physical galleries worldwide. Copyright of entered artworks remains with the student-artist.
