Registration Opens for NNI Webinar on Introduction to Nanometrology
The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO) is organizing a series of National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) webinars on nanometrology, metrological challenges, and recent advances in three topical areas: food, agriculture, and environment; nanoscale medical and pharmaceutical products; and electronics. Registration is open for the first webinar in the series, An Introduction to Nanometrology: History, State-of-the-Art, and Philosophy, which will be held January 5, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. (EST). See https://nnco-nano.zoomgov.com/webinar/register/WN_TAPUUuDbS12lN7fC8rFZrw#/registration and https://www.nano.gov/NanometrologyWebinarSeries The first presentation will introduce the philosophy of nanometrology -- "how we decide what we measure and how we make decisions on the development of measurement methods." Speakers will include Elisabeth Mansfield, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); Andras Vladar, NIST; and Angela Hight-Walker, NIST. Other webinars in the series include:
- February 2, 2024: Nanometrology for Food, Agriculture, and the Environment. This webinar will describe measurement challenges when addressing concerns related to the environmental fate of nanopesticides and nanomaterials in food and agriculture.
- March 1, 2024: Metrology of Nanoscale Medical and Pharmaceutical Products. This webinar will address measurement challenges in medicine and pharmaceuticals, especially regarding lipid nanoparticles for drug delivery (for example, characterization of surface chemistry and encapsulation).
- April 5, 2024: Metrology of Nanoparticles in Electronics. This webinar will discuss measurement challenges in applications of zero-dimensional (0D) nanoparticles, such as quantum dots, that rely on their composition and optoelectronic properties.
